Reformer Classes

Reformer Pilates is similar yet very different to mat based Pilates. Reformer Pilates is done using the reformer bed and is generally more intense and more dynamic than mat based Pilates. Extra resistance is added via the use of pullies and springs which form part of the reformer bed.

It is a full body workout that strengthens multiple muscle groups simultaneously, whilst easing pressure on the joints. Similar to mat based Pilates the focus is on alignment and technique. When using the reformer, we will build on a greater range of precise movements to give a deeper muscle burn, stimulate the core, upper and lower body. This class is designed for anybody and everybody – with modifications to suit all abilities.

Induction:
An Induction session will introduce you to the equipment, how to use it correctly and some of the basic exercises that you will find in a reformer class. The induction will be at a slower pace to provide an experience as to what to expect from a reformer class while still working the muscles!

All prospective Elan members are required to complete an induction to be able to attend a Reformer Pilates class. Reformer beds vary in their use and set up, so it is essential all Members complete an induction to understand the beds’ safety requirements. This guarantees that all Members have a basic understanding when attending a reformer class to ensure everyone benefits during the class.

Inductions are listed when spaces become available in classes. Please email antrimpilates@gmail.com to join the waitlist.
